Zalman Remote

Screeeaaaammmmm.

I have a Zalman HD160 which comes with a remote (this is contolled by IRTrans) that looks like an MCEV2 Remote. Checking IRTrans it will list the remote presses as mediacenter CH+, mediacenter Vol- etc, so all keys are working.

Could someone give me an idiots guide on how to get the remote working fully with GBPVR (i'm using PVRX2). At the moment I can change channel with the number keys, and use the arrow/enter but that is about it.

I have tried using HIP, tried programming IRTrans :confused: and slaughtered some poor lamb and wrapped in entrails across the keyboad all to no avail. :eek:

I could really do with some help.

PS the comment on the lamb in untrue, no animals were hurt in the writing of this post.

I'm not sure if I've seen any posts from users with this remote, so this probably explains the lack of suggestions.

Sorry, I know you probably already know this but GB-PVR has built in support the Hauppauge remotes, MCE remotes and USB-UIRT connected remotes. All other remote types tend to need to configured in their own software or some third party software to send the keyboard keystrokes to GB-PVR.

Is this the remote that came with your zalman: http://www.xbitlabs.com/images/multimedi.../p45s.jpg? It just look like a standard MCE remote. If so, you should only have to set the remote type to 'MCE Remote' in the config app to get it working.

Thats the remote, I assume its the IRTrans that could be causing the problem, as no MCE remote exists in the hardware list.

Does HIP take the remote key and translate it into the equivalent key press that GBPVR should then be able to interpret?.

I suppose if the worst comes to the worst I could connect up the hauppage remote

Yes.

Casey, that remote is an MCE remote. Just disable or uninstall IRTrans and set up GBPVR to be controlled by an MCE remote. You should be good after that.
