I have recently upgraded my computer with a new board and video card: an Asus A8N-E and an Asus Radeon X1900. I also use a Powercolor tuner (ATI Theater 550 chip). Since then, I've got a LOT a problem with GBPVR (and also Intervideo, Cyberlink, Mediaportal, SnapStream...softwares): mostly system crashes or freezes when scanning or changing channels. Sound and video were very out of sync too.
After at least one week of install/unistall, the solution was pretty simple: I have to upgrade the BIOS... The changes given by the newest bios were:
1- Fix sometimes asusupdate will show Unknown flash.
2- Update awdflash to v1.16 to avoid the system BIOS being downgraded
3- Add an option in the Bios to Enable/Disable "Wake up from S1/S3/S4".
4- Fixed instant Music function fail issue.
So, for me, it was not clear this will resolve my troubles. Anyway, it seems I was totally wrong. Since the bios upgrade, my system is very stable, not crash at all, no sound stutter or out of sync (desinterlace set to none).
Here are some advises you should take in consideration if, like me, have troubles with a new config:
-get the latest bios of course! (but be sure you know what you're doing here)
-check if you have a mux filter (It takes me some time to "understand" this)
-stay away of .Net 2, use .Net 1.1
-ATI card: maybe you should disable the VPU Recover. Catalyst Control Center seems to work better with .net 1.1 too.
Sorry for my English. I hope I could help someone with that. GBPVR is the best PVR software you can use with a tuner, so it is a shame if you cannot find your "bug".
BTW, ContourHC skin, Music Library2 and Weather plugins are really great!!
