Here is a link to the source code for the MVP client.
Here is a link to the RFB protocol document I used. Here is a link to the MVP protocol document I used. If the above link doesn't work, I made a local copy that you can get here. I'm working right now just to get things more stable. After that, there are a whole list of things to do, including: Getting all of the MVP messages working (i.e. FF/RR) Getting the menu overlay working Dealing with different file extensions Mapping all of the remote keys

I got the video overlay working today. It's not alpha blended, but it works well otherwise.
Also, I realized that in the source for the mplayer class, I accidentally left deinterlacing turned off. Turning it on will dramatically help the picture quality (at least on my machine it did).

Cool! I got it installed, and can see the screen. However, I cannot do anything. Not sure if functionality has been programmed in yet or not, but thought I would post just in case. This is something I have been looking for.
Ok, just figured out that I had to use keyboard to control it. Now I have another question. When I select a video to watch, all I get is a blank screen. I have tried avi, mpg, and wmv with no luck. I don't know if there is a config setting I need to change? Also I noticed 2 different .bin files. Should I be using the gbpvr.bin? I also get a Timeout Media notice and then the client exits.
Thanks.

UPDATE:
Ok, I can successfully get audio from an mp3 playing on the client, but still no video. Just a blank screen. Help?

Ok, now I have video. I think it was a codec issue, but I noticed only xVid or mpg will play, not wmv. Having said that....now I cannot see anything in my folder on the server. I go to Video library > Video1 and it is empty.
On the server it shows fine.

Does anyone read these?!?!?! Hello!!?!?!
I got a lot of people excited about this, but they are waiting to see if I get it working first. I'm hoping this is the app that everyone else is promising. How about some responses?

This software MVP client is very much a work in progress, with only a few people having tried it so far, so there isnt really many knowledge here that can respond.
I'm sure when TivoGuy shows up next he'll respond. It was about a week ago when he last visited.

AHHH!!!! So there is life here! Thanks for a response
I am digging this project, and may want to donate some web space. I have a nice Linux server sitting on an OC3 in Atlanta. This is EXACTLY what I have been looking for over the last year! Finally someone got the picture! Having a central control point for media, and then streaming it to a STB client is where the future is. I was trying to develop this sort of thing 3 years ago, but the technology just wasn't there yet. Of course mine was Linux based, but never the less. I only hope you can include a driver for the BT878A Fusion chipset, which is most of the older cards, and probably the most prevelent. If you hear from TivoGuy, let him know I am willing to host his files and be a Beta tester. |
