need help using Ir blaster with Dish 522

I bought the Hauppauge PVR-150. I have been trying to get the IR blaster to work with my Dish 522 DVR, but with no luck. The IR blaster software doesn't seem to have a code for the 522. Has anybody had this problem and been able to get it to work?

The 522 is the new PVR box, isnt it? I think it's just too new to have support with the IR Blaster, but try the new version on Hauppauge's website, they have an updated list of whats supported.

My gut feeling tells me you'll need to use a USB-UIRT.. you just can't go wrong with those. Maybe with a new release Hauppauge will support these new boxes.

I've had the Dish Network 522 DVR for about a year now, so it's not that new of a receiver. I'm not sure when it was first released.

Yeah, the 522 is kinda new but not the newest. Dish released a new one not too long ago, 625 or something like that. I would try the USB-UIRT but I don't have one and $50 to test is just too much right now. I e-mailed Hauppauge yesterday and just got an e-mail. They said that they were "considering" adding support for the 522 in a new updated. If anyone has gotten the USB-URIT to work with the PVR-150 and Dish 522 please let me know.

I have the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2, Dish 522 and I just ordered the USB-URIT (shipped today). I bought the USB-URIT to use with my Dish 311, If no one else posts first, I'll give it a test and let you know if it works with the 522.

Hey,

I am suree that the USBUIRT will work with any dish - as long as you have the remote for the dish - it will learn it.

The command line interface and learning asisstant from the UIRT webiste are great tools for getting everything up and running - especially where there are "toggle" codes (where the remote sends a different command depending on if you hit the button once or twice)

I cant test that as I dont have a recvr like that - but as I say it's universal - so it should work a charm.
