haarvik and blader_se: I'm still working on the overflow problem. I'm trying to add some logging to the client that will help in the debugging.

To exit back to the main menu, you should be able to type "m".

One of my tasks is to map all of the remote keys.

It appears that the issue is with mplayer. When I get that error the video locks up and the audio loops. In order to kill it I have to end task mplayer.

Just thought i'd throw his out,
I'm testing this on a 650 mhz p3 laptop with 385 mb of ram running a seriously stripped down version of XP.

I can play mpg or watch live tv with the cpu hovering around %70 utilization until it locks up or crashes.

.avi files don't run.

That's not too bad though.

Awesome!! I have audio on live tv!!!

Im using alot of my bandwidth so(im encoding videos to xvid over network)..its keep saying media timed out...

Hmmm I run gbpvr at 800x600....and my desktop at 1280x768.... A fullscreen feature is need...or is that possible to add.....or has it been done..

EDIT!

I have working tv... I added fs=1 to the mplayer config.... But once i load up tv..forget exiting back to the menu... I havent tried recordings or avis yet...

Is there some way you can enable deinterlace for mpegs?

According to the mplayer manual, you should be able to press "q" or "esc" to end and quit. That should take you back to the menu.

On another note....I did a test that will blow your mind. I setup the main app on a machine at my main office location. Today I am at a remote office which is about 1 1/2 hours away from my main. Now, keep in mind that the way my network runs I go from remote plant > Alabama > main office (I'm in NC). On a whim I tried loading the client on my laptop. It worked! Only problem was due to the latency I get a subscript error when I try to navigate. But none the less, it did load. This is way too cool. If the load could be speeded up or the response from the server > client were quicker (maybe a cached seesion), then it would be possible for road warriors to watch their movies at home from a Hotel or other broadband connection!

Keep it rockin...you're onto something great!

Wow! This could be the gb-pvr "front-end" many people have been asking for. It's much easier to have a passively cooled, low spec PC in the living room running the show. Good luck with this.

there was a guy about a year ago that made a similar client but it was severly buggy, but he had almost everything working..i still have it and it generates a log entry for just about everything it does[huge logs! lol] but very informative..
it may still be on the forums here somewhere too..very similarly, he used mplayer too...let me know if you'd like it and can't find it anywhere..

i'm stoked about the possibilities of remote access! Big Grin
it would rock if we could login from work and look up the movie to go to that evening and check the weather from the gbpvr interface..[tho i guess that is doable already with VNC or similar]
slideshows, music, etc is probably no biggie for net access tho i'm sure the video bandwidth won't allow video except for the lucky few..
[then we'll have to make a transcode/viewing plugin for remote use within normal interface, like the web streamer for web admin]
gotta get it stable locally first tho..

yours is already more stable than that old one but he had overlays, keys, etc all working b4 he disappeared...[just the video playing sucked!]
probably due to mplayer version he used...he embedded his...
your way is much cooler..externally substitutable...

thanx for the 'm' key bit...Big Grin
can't wait for the overlays!
sweet!

I'd love to see the code of that other one! Let me know how you would like to get it to me....either email or otherwise.

Thanks!
