Here's an idea I just thought of. Please let me know if it already exists!
Since I am already using an STB to control my TV tuning, I can already use the EPG that is built into the STB. I don't need the EPG that is built into GBPVR. Whenever I change a channel in GBPVR, I get the EPG bar on the bottom from GBPVR and my STB. Make sense? I would like to turn off the EPG totally in GBPVR, and just use the EPG in my STB.
Is there any way I can train GBPVR or my Hauppauge IR Blaster to transmit the signals from my Comcast remote when I press the buttons on my Hauppauge remote? Just like a universal remote, you can train them to send the appropriate codes from your standard remote.
I hope this is making sense. There is no way to turn off the EPG in my STB, so I figure I might as well use it since it keeps popping up. I just would like to use my Hauppauge remote to control it.

Thanks!

This means that you will not be able to program any shows from within gbpvr. Gbpvr cannot read the EPG from your STB; it would only be visible to your own eyes. That said, you can set "Minimal OSD during playback" in the Playback tab of the config app.

Do you have a pvr-150 with a blaster? That one cannot be trained; you will need to ask hauppauge to include support for your STB if it is not already supported. Otherwise you can buy an USB-UIRT, which GBPVR can use to transmit almost any remote control signals.

Thanks stefan. That helps. I realized after I posted that if the EPG was gone, I couldn't program any recordings! So that makes sense now.
Now, the USB-UIRT comes with an IR Blaster as well, correct? Does it come with the Girder software that it lists on the website, or do I need to buy that separatley?

Thanks again!

It does not come with girder. It does come with a blaster, quite a competent such. As long as you don't have Bang Olufsen devices (and a few other) that uses really weird frequencies to transmit remote codes, it will handle your remotes well.

That said, gbpvr has built-in support both for being controled by the usb-uirt and to use the usb-uirt to send codes to your set top box. So if that is your only need, you don't have to have girder. A few people on here use HIP instead of girder (it is free), but I don't know if HIP and usb-uirt are compatible. And HIP is not as advanced as Girder. But good to have in mind before running off and buying girder Wink
