Maybe this has already been covered and I missed it. It would be GREAT to be able to record programs locally and then have them exported to a media server afterwards with GBPVR pulling them off the server when they are requested to be played.

Sounds like a programming nightmare, but sure would be nice.

Any thoughts?

I guess you could always setup a postprocessing.bat batch file to copy/move your recording to the media server. Then configure video library (or your plugin of choice) to look at a share on the media server for video files.

A recent post included a utility to move/rename media in the GBPVR database. It seemed to support UNC paths. Move the file in postprocessing.bat and then use the utility to correct the database. Play the file then use GBPVR to manually delete it at will, assuming network permissions allow.

I'm working on the supporting stuff for this - a generic media server that lots of different machines can access easily. Copying the recordings to the server is easy - it's getting GBPVR to look on the server for playback that is not so easy. To get round this I don't use GBPVR to play back - instead I have a diskless playback PC in the lounge for this.
