according to this review of the new ipod video:
http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/article...ith-video/
the ipod video can only play video of mpeg-4 and the new H.264.
Will the mpg files that gbpvr records play back on the ipod video?
If not, can anything be done as far as changing the recording format or auto conversion to make video compatible for the ipod video?

You can transcode the video's with VirtualDub or TMPGEnc 3.0 Xpress

This:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tips/TranscodeToXVID
Looks like a good start for automatic encoding if you can modify it to encode to standard MPEG4 video

More MPEG4 information:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/technologies/mpeg4/

So, yes and no. The MPEG's that GBPVR records are mpeg2, they just need to be converted. The nice thing is that mpeg2 is a great starting point to encode from. Just wait until more specs are released or someone produces a program to encode movies for the iPod - it won't be long.
