Anyone ever try dc++

I am investigating connection software to create a movie net.

I see that dc++ has a C# hub software

I think that I should be able to create a hub (if someone has a fixed ip address and some bandwidth to spare for a naming service). The C# clients would connect to the gbpvr hub and share videos. I am going to investigate it we can configure the hub to only allow certain users creating a private network.

Has anyone used this? Does it work well?

If I can get it to work I plan on modifying the client code to get a socket interface so I can control it from my plugin.

yeah i know you can have a private hub, i use to belong to the slidersfanforum hub back in the day, needed a username/password to log onto that. it works ok, kind of old technology thou, every seems to be bittorrent these days; but yeah no locks with bittorrent (that i know of...)

the problem is if I try to write my own I have to add all of the logic to handle the fact that users are behind a router. Perhaps we should setup a dc++ private hub for movie sharing.

One issue would be the file name would not have the name and subtitle in it. I need to look at the code and see if we can add it. The thing with bittorrent is each video would be different since they are individually recorded. Bittorrent would not be very effective unless two people downloaded it.
