Although Microsoft Word disagrees with me I do not think reoccuring is a word

Well, I blame you guys for not pointing it out earlier Big Grin . When I was typing it this morning, it just didnt look right to me, so I decided to check.

In my defence, this particular mistake seems pretty common, and as shown by the approximate million pages that google finds containing this word.

Easy to fix: "GB uses 'reoccurring' technology to help you create tasks that need to repeat"

Both are valid and have their roots in the Latin currere meaning 'run'.

In the case of reoccur it is the prefix 're-' which alters the verb occur and it may be spelled with or without the hyphen. The prefix (also Latin origin) indicates repetition or 'again'.

In the case of recur, however, the letters 're' at the beginning are not a prefix to the verb (there is no such verb 'to cur' - 'cur' being a noun to describe a dog without pedigree or an offensive term for someone without honour or manners).

Cheers,
Brian

PS If anyone thinks I should have used 'spelt' instead of 'spelled' above, they can look that one up as well. Big Grin
