Hey, I set up the automatic Xvid encode on my GB-PVR install. It works pretty well, except the fact that I still see some artifacts from interlacing in my videos. How can I make it so that these artifacts won't appear in the Xvids?

are you watching the recording on a tv or on a pc monitor. If the later, you should select the option to de-interlace video in the xvid config.

I use virtualdub, and use a plugin to take them out. I don't know if exid, as an excoder, can be set up to just takem them out.

OK, does ANYONE know how I can auto-deinterlace my recordings when re-encoding to Xvid in GB-PVR? My codecs on the GB-PVR box all automatically deinterlace, but I want to be able to transfer thse recordings over to other PCs and not have them look ugly. Thanks

Whoops my mistake. I thought that unticking the "Interlaced Encoding" would de-interlace but it doesn't. It looks like it can't be done in xvid but instead will need to be deinterlaced in another program such as AviSynth first.

btw: I watch interlaced material on my Thinkpad T41 (1400x1050) using the ffdshow filter with deinterlace enabled. They look ok to me with no interlacing problems.

have a read at doom9.net for lots of info on video processing (if you haven;t already)
