well its been ages since ive done anything on this, and to be honest i forgot where i was at, so im releasing the last version i worked just to see where the bugs are, and what is missing.

so be warned, this may not work at all Smile

theres a seperate file called "MyMusicDBLoader.exe" running this will read your config.xml file (so "MyMusicDBLoader.exe" must be in your gbpvr root directory) and look at the virtual root for the music dirs you have specified. it will then go thru all those dirs and add any known music file to the database. you must do this to get it to work since its just using a database for your music now and nothing else (well audio cds work aswell, but thats it).

let me know if it works, or if it doesnt (i hope the skin still works.....)

update: bug testing moved to my forum at http://www.reven.co.nz

I tried it, and i was going to post the other day when it was released, but i was at a friends house with my computer, and was a little out of my mind at the time, and didn't was to post, sounding like a fool.

This is what i noticed.

1) All the files copied over fine, but "GBPVRPublic.dll", since it's running of course.

2)After stopping all the GBPVR background files, and copying over the GBPVRPublic.dll file, GBPVR no longer runs anymore. You can run GBPVR.exe, but nothing happens. So after restoring the GBPVRPublic.dll file, and running again, it runs fine again. Don't know why your file makes it not run anymore.

3)So if/when trying to run GBPVR with original GBPVRPublic.dll file (instead of included file with zip file, making GBPVR not run on my system.), i get the following error message when trying to go inside MY Music.

"Error : Method not Found : System.Drawing.Image"
"MyMusicDatabase.MusicTag.FindAlbumArt(System.String)"

After installing on my friend's computer, it did the same thing.

What should i try next?

ok my bad, that file should have never made it into the zip file. its from whatever version of gbpvr is on my development machine, you should restore the one you had before. um if you dont have it, try deleting the file completely and running the standard GBPVR shortcut created by the installer, the installer may kick in and restore the file (hopefully). if it doesnt you may need to just reinstall gbpvr. sorry for this, my complete cock up.

ive updated the zip to include a newer version of the MyMusicDatabase.dll file which will hopefully fix that error you are getting.

Well, since i always practice constant backups now Wink I already still had the GBPVRPublic.dll file , and put back. Thats how i found the error.

After trying the new MyMusicDatabase.dll you reported uploading, it did fix the error. Everything is working fine now. Now for some more testing.

I'll give it a shot soon Reven.
Anything I should watch out for since I already have the regular "MyMusic" installed and running?

its a completely different design. no longer using directories to maintain the structure, you have to run the dbimport util to load the database, once the db is loaded it you can browse via the tags (eg artist/album/genre).

so remove the old one completely. im only using about 10% of the same code from that one (and thats just the code to do with ripping audio cds).

Argh. Should I also remove MyPictures plugin, or are they using different DB files?

um yeah i would suggest using a temp database for now, i may change a few things before the final release. if you have a copy of m$ access you can just use the same database (so you can delete old tables etc).

my music 3 doesnt use any of the old tables that my music 2 uses, so they wont be an issue, just the database will become larger (not that much larger thou since most fields are just text).
