Hello everyone,
I have the Sapphire Theatrix capture card. I think most of you have heard of it before. I am wanting to use the composite connections from my vcr to my capture card to be able to record several videos to hd to make a dvd from. I have tried many different programs, but they seem to have severe limitations. Powercinema which comes with the Sapphire has the ability to capture composite, but has a 2 gig limitation on recordings. So when i have attempted to record even a one hour vid in good quality resolution, the 2 gig limit is exceeded and it records in two files. Though not insurmountable, it is very inconvenient to merge the two files. I have tried WinAvi-capture, but I cannot get any sound from it at all. Nice picture, no sound. Does anyone have any suggestion as to a vid capture program that would work with this particular card?

Thanks in advance for any help that you can give...

Bramwell...

Well...since you're on the gbpvr forums...have you tried it yet?
Set up a new source for your card, called (DUH!) composite (look in config).
You can never have enough tuners!

Actually, I had already tried that, but, I guess I do not know enough about GB-PVR yet to know what I am doing. I set up another source and set it to the composite, however, I didn't know if I need to switch to that source by running config each time I wanted to use the vcr, or if there was some way to switch between the two sources while in the program...I don't even know if that made sense or not..hope so

Make a new channel for the TV guide that points to the composite input, then you just have to tune gbpvr to that channel.

That did it...thank you very much for your help. I can now record from the vcr through gbpvr. I appreciate you taking the time to explain this to me.

Well, Reboot, I could use your advise one more time. I can use the live tv to watch the composite input from the vcr. So anything I tape I can watch. However, I have not figured out how to record it in gbpvr. I usually set up my recording in the tvguide. The composite channel is listed there without the gridwork and no way to activicate recording for that channel. Do you know any other way to initiate recording the composite channel?

Thanks again.

Schedule a manual recording in the Recordings panel.
There, you select your composite channel, and recording quality, just like any other recording.

Thank you once again for answering my bone-headed questions. I have never used the recording section. Thank you for pointing that out.

In normal live-TV (timeshift mode) you can just hit "record" to save the show.

What happens when you do this on a channel that does not have an EPG - my guess would be that it records the current hour...
