What are the first steps I need to do in order to get EPG updates? Which website site is best? What are the procedures?

Newbie!

Thanks...........

Take a look here: http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/

This is an excellent tool for configuring and downloading Uk epg data and really simplifies the XMLTV process. It's all pretty self explanatory, just make sure you configure GBPVR to use 'XMLTV plugin' and point it to the resulting file.

I run it as a scheduled task every couple of days.

You can also configure GBPVR to use the DVB EPG Broadcast (This updates automatically by 'pulling' data contained in the DVB stream) but it's a little messy in the UK as it doesn't take account of part time channels and channels which share frequencies.

Ran the XML file setup - which seemed happy enough grabbing listings. Pointed the XMLTV file to the correct path.

Run Update EPG - and all it does it put a box up that says:

"Saving new listings & channel information." Which stays up for 10 seconds or so.

Then, when I click OK, and run GBPVR - it doesn't see the TV guide when I click on TV Guide. It says 'no channels have been set up. Please run the config utility and setup the EPG source. Use the update EPG button to force the system to import the latest set of channel & program info'.

ANy ideas?

I'm assuming you've done a channel scan??

After doing 'update epg' from the config you have to choose 'map digital channels to epg channels'.

Now go down your list of available channels and next to each one choose which EPG data you want to correspond to that channel.

This should do the trick. Let me know if any probs.

all 'seems' to work fine......it maps fine, seems to be importing the EPG - I basically think it's sorted. Until, I run the GBPVR itself - and then I get the screen attatched.

Can you post a screen shot of your 'map digital channels to EPG channels' screen?

Must say I'm a fan of xml radio times grabber. Love how it can add a film label and star rating to the listings.

Oh and philip, thumbs up for using Firefox, spread the word Smile Cool
