It'd be nice on the recording screen if you could optionally specify that a recording should be transcoded, picking a certain transcode profile perhaps too.

I don't automatically transcode anything since I prefer the default MPEG2 format. However, there is occasion when I know I'm going to want to transcode a recording after it's done, maybe because I know it's going to a huge recording that I want to archive to AVI permanently (say the Godfather trilogy), or because I know I'm going to transfer it to my kids PSP.

Seconded!
Could be an option when you select a recording

That sounds great, sub!

It would be nice to be able to optionally setup the transcoding to occur as soon as the recording is finished, while scheduling it. That way it won't be a two step process, schedule the recording and then afterwards, initiate the transcode.

However, being able to transcode on-demand from Video Library will be a big plus.

Does that mean that when we schedule a recording/reoccuring recording, we'll be able to choose a transcode profile at the same time?

Yes, that is also something I intend to do, but different than what was mentioned above.

I'm not clear on this...Is it already possible to have GBPVR make video play on PSP? If so, where can I find out how? I just purchased a PSP and have been playing around with PSPVideo9. It is easy to use and I like it but the stuff I plan to watch on my PSP will be recordings from GBPVR. It would be cool to skip a step. Any info would be great.

Yes. You need to visit the post processing tab in the config app and set it to automatically convert .MPG recordings to 'Sony PSP'.
