A great feature would be to allow the "DVD" plaver to read the DVD/CD filesystem if it isn't an actual DVD-Video. And then allow a video (avi) to be read and played directly from the DVD/CD. Additionally, the ability to read and play MP3's.

The technology is already there, just not put together quite like this. If I am wrong and these features are already there please let me know (and hints on how to use them).

Thanks in advance (and for all the incredible work you've placed into this superb product),

In the meanwhile you could also set DVD as a Video Library Directory in the Directory configuration. I did it ad it is working fine eiter locally on the PC or on my 2 remote MVP's.

Can a directory be created and be left there permanenetly without any negative impacts on the system? In particular, when there is no DVD in there.

Thanks

Yep - I have added the DVD drive as a virtual root in MyVideos and if there is a disc with .avi movies in there it lists it as a normal directory (including remembering which ones you have watched), and if there is a standard DVD in there it just plays the DVD.
