Looks like lady luck was smiling upon me today (Christmas Eve) because I got a call from my local game store informing me that my Xbox360 was FINALLY available for pickup. Looks like this beasty will connect to Windows XP and MCE devices that support WMC 2.0. Would it be possible to connect GB-PVR to the 360 using WMC 2.0?

It should work fine. You'll need to share the gbpvr recording directory in WMC. Last I checked, WMC only shared media on the local workstation, though that may have changed in version 2. GB-PVR will be reduced to a recording device where the media is served up by WMC. You will not be able to use the gb-pvr interface or its collection of plug-ins on the 360. I find the web interface extremely useful though.

On the other hand, I would highly recommend looking into tversity instead of WMC as your UPNP A/V server. I am not sure how well it currently supports the 360, but support will probably increase as the 360 gains in popularity Tversity will serve up the video recordings like WMC, and provide significant additional capability.

I second the remarks on TVersity, runs for weeks on my GBPVR computer without problems, small, fast, many features. Large community.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that WMC and TVersity can currently only support music and pictures to the 360? Microsoft have built in some limitation into the video side of things, making you use media centre.

I remember hearing some rumbling about that as well, though I thought that WMC 2 also worked. I do not recall seeing confirmation that TVersity did not work.

The Microsoft website only mentions using Windows Media Connect with the 360 for pictures and music, so I assume video is not possible: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/howto/...dia-pc.htm

I assume the same is true for tversity aswell.

There was a posting on 360updates.com where someone was able to run applications on a PC through the 360. Let me see if I can find that post...

Yeah, I remember reading something like that, but it was more like a VNC type thing - it wouldnt work for video. You might be able to schedule recordings etc from it, but no way to play them back.

Someone ever heard a 360?
Seems to make a lot of noise.

I find that is only the case when I am playing a game. At least, that has been my experience. Take the disc out and the unit is fairly silent. Of course, I have the console and power brick in well ventilated areas so that is probably helping the situation a bit.

Still trying to find the link on running .exe's from the 360. It would be cool if we could initialize an MVP like interface for scheduling.
