Advice with tv out and settings

I will be setting up my first pvr tonight and need some advice.

I am using a Radeon 9250 to output directly to a TV. What should i set the resolution and refresh rate on the windows box to? Does it have any relevence when using tv out.

Also what are th best config settings / decoder when using this card?

Hi,

Yes you should take care of the right resolution / refresh / overscan settings.

I found that I get the best results when defining the monitor as generic television (by manually installing the driver, MS does not recognise my TV automatically). Then you will get the native PAL or NTFS resolutions and use these together with overscan. This will more or less hide the taskbar in the overscan area which might be a nuisance but the TV image is much cleaner this way. I would like to set the refresh to 50 hz as this theoretically would be the best for Europe but the driver only allows 60 (maybe some tweaking would yield me the 50 hz but I have not tried it yet).

Further the obvious is to use S-video over composit if yr TV accepts it.
