Separate the OSD/Menus windows from the video playback window

Hi...
I have a dual head Matrox G400 and am using it's "DVDMax" feature for displaying the video from GBPVR on a second monitor.

In lieu of buying a Hauppage MVP and running wires to another room containing my big screen TV, my intent is to connect the output going to the second monitor to a 5.8GHZ wireless A/V transmitter to the big screen TV. This would also give me the flexibility to buy a second wireless receiver and watch the same show on a portable TV on my deck.

Unfortunately, my search of the forums revealed there are no methods/drivers/tweaks to get the OSD to display on the DVDMax monitor.

It would be a nice feature if sub would offer a configuration option to separate the OSD from the video playback window.

This option would have several benefits:

1. The OSD would be visible at all times. You would always know what channel/show was being viewed in Live TV and (not sure about this) plugins could be displaying their data simultaneously with Live or recorded video playback.
2. You could schedule new recordings, etc. via the Menus while Live/Recorded video was playing.
3. If the OSD was always visibile in a separate window it would be feasible to use remote control software to control GBPVR via a laptop for instance. Since the OSD by itself would not have significant video updates occurring like OSD+Live TV, remote controlling it via VNC for instance should be very responsive even on an 802.11b wireless connection.

Am I totally off base?

Thanks for the quick reply. And, being a programmer myself for 20+ years I can appreciate the amount of effort this change would entail.

Instead of separating the OSD from the video would it be a more reasonable request to enhance GBPVR so it would "post" current operational information (i.e. Channel/Show info, audio/video file being played, file position) in a shared memory area, OLE, anywhere that would be accessable to an external program? That way at least some of the information provided by the OSD could be "seen" and used when the OSD itself is not visible.

You could write you're own plugin to get the channel name or audio/video file being played. This information is made available to plugins implementing the IEventNotification interface.
