I know these type of questions get asked all the time but here goes anyway.

I just got IPTV installed from my telephone company with 3 Video Streams. The gateway is the Motorola RG2400. I can not find a configuration in the IR blaster setup that will control the gateway.

Any Ideas or suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Which IR Blaster do you have?

If its the USB-UIRT or Actisys IR200L or MCE2005 one, then you can learn a new profile. If its the Hauppauge PVR150 one, and it is limited to the predefined codes Hauppauge supply.

Unfortunately it is just the PVR 150 one.

So I assume from your reply I need to look into one of the other brands?

Or you could try wamiling Hauppauge to ask about support for the "Motorola RG2400"

A bigger question would be "how do I pull that stream directly into my GBPVR box".

Is you IPTV delivered via DSL,Fiber or something else?
Who is your provider? Verizon?
GBPVR Server:
AMD Sempron 3300+, 1gb DDR, 100, 200 & 500gb HDDs, DVD -/+RW PVR150 RETAIL, PVR150MCE.
GBPVR 1.0.16, SKIN'S = Default Blue, PLUGIN'S = None

Ok did that. If I were to buy the USB-IURT would I need the one with the extra IR Sensor?

I am guessing the main one would face the RG2400 to send signals to it and I would need the extra receiver to receive the remote signals for controlling GBPVR.

Or am I way out in left field since I am not really 100% sure how to use the USB-UIRT.

This will probably be the way I am going since I am sure Hauppauge will get around to this in their due time if at all!

Thanks for your Help Sub!

The signal is from my local Teleco and is coming via ADSL. I have ADSL for interent and now for 3 streams of video.

I don't think you can pull it DIRECTLY into the GBPVR Box. The RG2400 recieves the signal over copper lines. two lines I assume one is the receive and one the transmit. Pins 4 and 5 on the cat5 cable. The RG2400 then takes the data and somehow splits it into 3 seperate streams that it modulates and broadcast out onto standard cable throughout the house. The streams are on Channels 3, 7 and 13.

Any TV connected on the house cabling can watch any of the 3 channels by obviously switching to that channel.

Channel 3 is controlled by IR at the box. Hence need a way to change the channel.

Channels 7 and 13 are controlled via RF remotes with antennas connected on the cable itself.

So I assume the RG2400 monitors the cable looking for the remote commands that are tied to each video stream. It then sends this signal to the teleco to change the stream.

Pretty cool actually. It works pretty quick. I have only noticed that sometimes the signal pixelates and then recovers a sec or two later in the show. But I have not seen this happen very often.

I'm not trying to hijhack your thread, I'm just interested in the IPTV stuff.

So your DSL comes in and goes to your Motorola RG2400. From that box you have a coax connection and ethernet (for internet) right?

The stuff is fairly new technology so I'm sure you cant just grab the IP streams off the DSL. You need a modem/gateway to change the DSL signal into ethernet. But, given a little time some creative person will come up with a way to hack the box so you can get direct access to the stream.

According to Motorola's website the 3 streams your receiving are MPEG-2. So in theory you should should be able to capture the stream to a disk.

What's your bandwidth on your DSL connection?

Well Kinda, That is how it is suppose to be wired.

Mine is actually slightly different. I already had DSL and a router set up for that. Soo instead of wiring the DSL for internet to the 2400 I left it hooked to my router. I could not find any technical info on the DSL side of the 2400 firewall capability and such. I did find out the ethernet out was 10 Mbps so same as current router. Which has hardware firewall and such and works great so left it alone. ( For now)

yes there is coax for the TV portion of the service out of the 2400.

I had 1.5 Meg dsl but for cost consideration had it slowed down to 384 (I think) slowest offered. I can bump up to 724 (or something like that) for $7.00 more and probably will.

Thats ok about thread. It is about dead anyway. Just need more info on USB-IRT.

OF NOTE:

I have just figured out how to program the stream provided to automatically switch channels (they call it auto tune) so it changes channels for you on its own per your programming! So now I just have to figure out how to get GBPVR to record using it's guide without wanting to change channels.

This is more work since you'll have to program 2 things but it is a work around for now.
