Let me preface this by saying I do not have MS Access installed so I haven't been able to look at the database to explorer whether what I am asking is available or not.

Zap2it provides information on most programs including it's 'Original Air Date' (or perhaps it's called 'First Aired Date') and it will also show the program is a 'Rerun' (or perhaps 'Repeat'). If this data is in the database, can it be included in the show description in the gui as well as the web interface?

GB-PVR doesnt currently retain this information, so its not possible to display it.

Gotcha. Can it be added to the wishlist? What's the likelyhood that it would be added?

I dont know. I have no immediate plans. I'm plenty busy with other stuff.

Please consider adding this when you have time.

Also, I think Zap2It provides a unique program id, syndicated episode number, and a subtitle for many programs. This data could be used (if it isn't already) to help eliminate recording duplicates.

GBPVR already uses the unique ID to identify dupe recordings, if you choose Zap2It for your EPG source in config.
I've been checking around because I was thinking about adding a few of the things you're talking about to my I-xmltv utility, and maybe something’s already available.
XMLTV GUI has an XML file import option, and a postprocessor called PrgDets that does lots of cool things.
But I'm not sure if it's compatible with Zap2It xmltv files. It did output a file when I processed the XMLTV Zap2It grab, but I haven’t tried loading it in GBPVR yet.

Jim, I would be interested in your findings. I would imagine that you would need to write a plugin to pull this data from the database and make it usuable in the gui, right?

I’ll let you know how XMLTV GUI works out as soon as my system stops recording long enough to try it. Smile

I can’t access the GBPVR database with my outdated programming language but it works fine for standalone utilities. What I’m thinking about is updating the Zap2It xmltv file, and just including available but unused information to fields that GBPVR already displays. Like “movie” and stars “***+” to the title and episode number / original airdate to the beginning of the description.
GBPVR already shows the star rating and genre in the description, on my system anyway.
But quite a few programs I record don’t have a subtitle or description but they do have a unique ID and an episode number. If I moved this information into the subtitle field, RecTracker would be much more reliable. I use xmltv for my epg source because I have two GBPVR systems and a standalone TV-Guide that use the single download / xml file.

My wish would be for sub to include the Zap2It unique ID if it exists in the xmltv file. That way I could use GBPVR’s avoid duplicates without doing individual downloads for each of my systems, and a separate TV-Guide.

PS. I forgot to mention that there is a free MS access viewer / editor available, check the “MDB Viewer Plus” link in my sig.

I second the motion on rerun information. I am kind of used to that with Guide+ and it helps me sort out what I want to watch. Thanks.

I tried XMLTV GUI but GBPVR wouldn’t load the EPG, so it looks like its not compatible with Zap2It xmltv files….

But.
I'm slowly chipping away at adding a few things like you're requesting to my I-xmltv utility. See post #38 & #40 for the description and latest update. I'll update post #1 with the latest version in a few days.

Repeat and Original Air Date.
I'm interested in opinion’s on "where" this should be added to the guide?

Keep in mind, if "Rerun" is added to the title of a program, GBPVR "season record" would not record them.
But you could also schedule a show with "Rerun" in the title to record all the old episodes. This could actually be a plus in some cases.

Another option is to put the original airdate &/or episode number in the sub title. Then, if a program doesn’t have a subtitle or description, it would have one containing the original airdate. This would also help RecTracker to avoid dupes.

Ideas?
