Hey guys, your probably getting sick of me but I finally found a Media MVP on Buy.com (finally got some in stock). When I recieve my MediaMVP and set it up, as in plug it in next to the TV, connect it to the TV and plug the ethernet in it. What should I do next? Should I not even bother with Hauppage software and just use GBPVR or what do I need to do to get it running with no hassles?

Not at all. (but if you ask one more dumb question ... Smile ... Just kidding)

Personally I'd forget the Hauppage S/W, as you use now already use the best PVR s/w Smile and GBPVR has it's own MediaMVP server. If you use Codecs other than Hauppage (which the MVP, and a PVR-150, 500 etc, also install) then you're fine with the GBPVR MediaMVPserver and you don;t have to disable any services etc.

Just follow the intsructions in the WIKI and don't forget the firewall issues.
1. http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Config/MVP
2. http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Hardware/MediaMVP
3. http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FAQ/MVP#toc

Once you get going THEN think about upgrading the MediaMVP dongle but I'd strongly suggest you don't "go there" until it is up and running. I use wireless (which works fine), but if you can, avoid it until you get the MediaMVP going through the ethernet cable, to cut out a possible glitch source.

Don't forget to check the MediaMVP box in the Config. Good luck and if you get stuck...just come back and ask some more Q's, after you follow the FAQ advice etc.

Usually and normally I would/do look through the WIKI before posting questions like this but I found out that it might just be easier and I wouldn't do some unimportant task such as installing the useless Hauppage S/W. Anyways what do you mean by Media Drivers? and is the LIve TV fix mandatory for GBPVR v 96.12?

No probs, you were asking what would YOU do, which isn't in the WIKI.

Oops Typo, (now fixed, that should read MediaMVP Dongle, and what I meant by it is the uploading of the dongle.bin which requires the remove the power plug procedure. The LATEST beata does not work with GBPVR, but the one before it does. Sub says he will fix GBPVR for the next version so it works, but to be honest, get it going using the dongle.bin provided with GBPVR first. GBPVR is alrredy installed, so as long as (GPPVR) it running, when you first plug in your MediaMVP, it should upload the dongle.bin so the VERY FIRST turn-on may take a little longer. Subsequent ones will only search the server PROVIDED you don't power off the mediaMVP by removing the power plug.

Yes, IMO as I (and many others) got the symptoms, and it fixed it. But if you don't get the symptoms, it's like any software fix, i.e. you don't NEED to do it.

I guess I missed this. What are the symptoms and what's the fix?

Nevermind - guessing it's the sticky at the top of the forum.

Well I finally got everything set up and its perfect (almost) and im loving it so far. The only problem im having is the display on my tv is off centered so I did a search and found out that you need to change settings in config.xml to change the offset to your settings. Thats fine and dandy but do I have to reboot the MVP every time i try a new screen adjustment or just restart the service on my computer? How would I go about doing that?

Also I noticed that with the BlueMCE2 Skin that when you go to live TV on my computer that on the lower third of the screen it will show up what channel your own and the description and the + - and Pause button on the top but on the MVP thats no where to be seen. Does that feature just not work on the MVP?

One last thing is that Im using the stock composite cables and although I eventually want to get a nice S-Video cable the picture on live tv is very rich with color I guess you can say saturated? Whats the most simplest way you can play with brightness, contrast, saturation and all the other settings for the MVP? I did a search and came up with something about a Hauppauge Tweak tool but I'm not sure. Would this also require a reboot each time or how would I go about doing this?

I believe the Hauppage Tweak tool is what you are after, although I have never used it personally.

Not a complaint or anything (infact it is somewhat funny) but it seems whenever I need something off the Wiki or the program itself it always seems to be down :p I know i know free hosting Rolleyes

Its wierd though, whenever the Wiki is down the main Gbpvr.com is down also or vice versa but the main website seems to be working.
