Hi all,
I know I ask a lot of propably stupid questions, but it is the only way I can learn about this program.

What is web scheduling?
Does it mean that I can schedule recordings from another computer/location? For instance if I am abroad, but would like to record a program in my native country, with my stationary computer.

How do I get started with web scheduling?
- any links, tips etc. is greatly appreciated

best regards,
Mikkel

Yes, it'll allow you to schedule recordings from work or abroad etc.

Enable it in the config app, and set the username and password. You can try it out locally by visiting http://localhost:7647/gbpvr/index.aspx

Great!
But I guess that means I now have to figure out how I can access my stationary computer from outside?

oh boy, I wish I had taken some computer classes at college.

Any good links to sites that I can read up on? I am not going to use all your precious time on this issue, but I would love to learn how to do this on my own.

Keep ut the great work!

best regards,
Mikkel

Hey Mikkel,

basically you need to figure out what your machine address (IP address) is on the internet. If you go to http://www.whatsmyip.org/ this will give you the information.

Of course the problem is this is dynamically allocated by your ISP so you may want to look up dynamic IP sites.

Once you have your IP address sorted out, then you can try and connect to it from your own machine (substitute localhost for your ip address eg http:/192.157.23.1:7647/gbpvr/index.aspx).

Then you may need to resolve firewall issues if you are running one.

That should get you started,

cheers,
Colin.

Hi

Just a little suggestion is to use a service like dyndns.org which gives you a name like [somename].dyndns.org and you can redirect the name when your IP changes.

That way you don't need to know your IP just the name as above. Pretty handy since you never know when your IP changes

Regards
Carlos

Thanks to sub, colin and tibu for the help. I opened an account at dyndns.org and also downloaded dyndns updater software, so now I am able to access my web scheduling from work without having to worry about forgetting my IP adress.

This is just fantastic! I had no clue it would be this fun when I bought the 350 card.

Talk to you as soon as I get another problem!

best regards,
Mikkel
