I just upgraded again from a working 96.12 to a non functional MVP under 97.7.

Installation went like this:

1. Unplug MVP
2. Install .NET 2.0 Framework
3. Install 97.7 GBPVR (config failed after install)
4. Run config.exe
5. Set autostart MVP Services to 1
6. Reboot PC
7. Restart GBPVR Recording service
9. Power on MVP

The MVP runs through boot process. It finds the server 192.168.1.6. I click OK on the remote, it reboots and proceeds to "loading application" screen. Cycles through the status twice. On the third time through it stops on the 7th box (3 remaining) and locks up. Only pulling the power cord gets a response out of the MediaMVP.

1. Pull power on MediaMVP
2. Count to 5
3. Plug MVP back in
4. MVP locks up on first screen (MEDIA MVP v2.04) with 5 boxes at the bottom. Locks up with the last box remaining lit.

I'm using dongle.bin with the default skin. Running on Windows Media Center Edition SP2.

Let me know if there is anything else...

Loads dongle fine here, just sits there when connect to server fails.
Everything works fine on 96.12, which is where I am staying for a while.
If more are having problems with MVP's then please post.

*UPDATE*

Loaded latest beta Hauppauge software as suggested in this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=16229

1. MediaMVP booted fine with Hauppauge software.
2. Copied dongle.bin to BetaDongle.bin under GBPVR directories.
3. Uninstalled Hauppauge software
4. Restarted GBPVR services
5. Turn off power on the MediaMVP WITH power button. I did not disconnect the power cord.
6. MediaMVP booted using BetaDongle.bin in GBPVR
7. Recylced power on MediaMVP
8. MediaMVP powered on with new BetaDongle.bin

Seems the dongle.bin in 97.7 may be a little horked?

My MediaMVP is rev 2.04 and firmware is H2.

I'll be playing a little more now it seems, MP3 plays fine as well as MPG video apparently.

No, the included one works fine, but it was from early 2005. You'd need a much later dongle.bin for use with your H2.

The included is the best behaving dongle I've found for the older MVP (which represent 99% of MVPs used here).

Is the 96.12 one different than the 97.7 dongle?

I marked this as resolved, hopefully it will help someone else.

Thanks for the support, great product!

Im using the stock dongle.bin that came with GB-PVR 96.12 and my MediaMVP is a revision H2. Seems to be working good, should I still upgrade my dongle sub?

Maybe. It doesnt work well with my Wireless H0.

You might get away with it if you're in the US. Outside the US, the noteable problem is not being able to read the configuration information in the MVP's flash memory (which is very different in the H models), so it just uses the system defaults (NTSC, 4:3, etc), which doesnt work so well in PAL countries. If your settings match the default, this is probably ok.

Yeah I live in the US and those are my defaults so thats probably why its working fine, I might still upgrade and see if it helps some of my rare rebooting problems.
