Sub:

I figured my post was lost in the flurry of activity since the release of 97.9, so i thought I'd post it over here instead.

I'm at a loss about what to do with the bouncing MVP logo coming back in this version. I've upgraded to version 3.0.24088. Still no luck getting the Screen saver to shut off. Looking at the settings in the MVP software and the resulting data file it should be off and in the MVP application it is. As soon as I shut down Happ services and bring GBpvr back up I get the bouncing Media MVP screen saver 60 seconds later. Even if i go in and set it to start at 90000 seconds (15minutes) it makes no difference 60 seconds and it's back. I have the entry that used to work to stop this in my config xml file.

<DisableHauppaugeMVPScreenSaver>true</DisableHauppaugeMVPScreenSaver>

I do get this line in the log every 5 to 10 seconds so i know it's trying, just not succeeding.

6/5/2006 9:53:23 AM.656 VERBOSE [18] getValue cached value: /settings/DisableHauppaugeMVPScreenSaver : true

Sub, or anyone for that matter have any idea how to get rid of the Happ bouncing logo? I'm not sure what else i can try beyond going back to the 96.xx versions and i hate to do that now that I've made the move and gotten everything but this to work.

Being desperate here I'll try anything! This drives both my wife and myself absolutely crazy.

Sorry, I had read you post, and added it to my list of things to check out, but havnt had a chance yet. I'm off to Hawaii for a week on Saturday, and I'm rushing to get some other work finished.

I've been trying, but havnt been able to reproduce this. I'm not getting the Hauppauge screensaver here.

After how many minute of inactivity do you see the Hauppauge screen saver?

Do you also see the GB-PVR screen saver?

Can you leave your MVP sitting at the GB-PVR menu for 10 minutes, then zip and attach the gbpvr.exe.log file?

I noticed that the Hauppauge screen saver came on for me yesterday on the MVP. It was with dongle-3.0.24088.bin if that makes a difference. I don't know how long the screen was idle, but I think it was on the TV Guide screen when it came on. I normally always leave it on the main screen which is constantly updating with upcoming recordings, so that may make a difference.

This is the first time I have seen this happen and I leave the MVPs on all the time.

Well, it not happening to you will make it a bit more dificult to pin down. Have a great week in Hawaii though. hehe like my little bouncing Happague logo will stop that. Smile

I get the happague screensaver after 60 seconds. It does not happen on the main screen, assuming screen refreshes from various panels stop it, but it does on every other screen. I did two tests, one on the Gbpvr main menu not touching anything and letting it sit for 10 minutes and another on the net radio screen. It did pop up there, doesn't matter weather i play a channel or not, after 60 seconds it's there. I don't use the GBpvr screensaver. I'm sure you've guessed by now i'm not a fan of screensavers. Smile

I'm also having this problem and I can't figure out how do get rid of the MediaMVP screen saver. It comes up after one minute of inactivity, but doesn't come on if I leave the MVP on the main menu.

I'll be watching this thread. Smile

tipstir Wrote:I've turned it off and use the default dongle.bin I was using in 96.12. This one is included with 97.9. Again I don't have the problem you have describe. You can disable GBPVR and load HAU software and then use the config settings on the MVP to disable the screensaver for good.

I've done exactly that with no luck i'm afraid. I let it run for a bit afterwards, even checked the setting file in the Happauge directory and they were correct but as soon as i stop that and reload GBpvr i get the bouncing logo in sixty seconds. For now i've stepped back to 97.8. The screensaver is just plain unacceptable popping up all the time. It really kills the WAF. I'll just wait till Sub gets back and can give it a proper look.

I, too, was having this issue when I first upgraded to v0.97.09. I think I fixed it since I haven't had it happen lately, but I'm not positive. First, I hand-edited the config.xml file and searched for "saver". I set ScreenSaverEnabled to "false", ScreenSaverKickinSeconds to "12000", and DisableHauppaugeMVPScreenSaver to "true". After I restarted the server, I unplugged power to the MediaMVP, waited a minute, then plugged power back in. So far it seems to have gotten rid of the annoying MVP screen saver.

Now if I could just figure out why my channels get re-added from Zap2It to my guide every few days, I'd be all set. As it is, looks like I need to go back to v0.96.12. Bummer.
