EPG messes up

I have a problem with dual entries in the EPG. Some days are duplicated into entries for the date before (i.e., all epg listings are put into the EPG on the correct date, but also a copy of the same listings are overwriting the listing entries for the day before). It seems a little erratic, it is not all days that get duplicated, and not all channels either.

I have a PVR-350 and a PVR-250 card, and therefore two almost identical capture sources.

Whe I try to "Empty EPG" in the Config app, nothing happens. I have to force emptying by deleting both capture sources and the re-create them (fairly tedious - is there a way to copy the channel numbers easily back?).

Could I be doing something wrong? I assume both cards need to be set up with full set of channel numbers, as well as point to the same xmltv file?

It'll be crap data in your XMLTV files. Every time this comes up, this has been the case.

What country are you in and what XMLTV grabber are you using?

Yes, both cards should point to the same XMLTV file (assuming they've got the same channels available).

I am in Denmark, and I am using o2grabber. I have not tried any other grabber. Do you recommend another grabber?

Oh, by the way, I am not sure how it can be crap in the XMLTV file: when I delete the capture sources and thereby force emptying of the EPG, then the newly created EPG is fine, using the SAME xmltv file as before...

Zip and email your gbpvr.mdb, and xmltv file, and identify an example show with the problem.  Email them to me at support@devnz.com

Whilst its possible its a bug in GB-PVR, I think its unlikely. There have been no changes in the XMLTV EPG processing in over half a year, and there is a lot of people using it, without any problems.

Unfortunately, I did not keep copies of the messed up files, and now after the forced rebuild of the EPG, everything seems fine.

When the problem pops up again (as it has a couple of times over the past 2 weeks), then I will e-mail the files.

Thanks for your incredibly quick responses.

I've hade similar problems, also with o2grabber (Sweden). Although to me the problem seems to be whenever a show (or several, as it usually is) have been moved 5-15 minutes in time. Let's say I download the tv listings on Thursday and show "A" is listed from 15.00 to 16.00 on Sunday. On Friday when I dowload it 'they' (who are they? ;-)) have moved the show "A" to be on at 15.05 to 16.05. GBPVR will then display one show "A" from 15.00 to 15.05 and one show "A" from 15.05 to 16.05.

Note that I'm not sure the reason to the show being listed twice like that is the one I described above. That's just a theory. How does GBPVR work in this matter? One would think that it ideally used the latest xmltv listing, not regarding any previously downloaded/processed xmltv data?

Just as I hit the post button it hit me back =) Since this happens to me and PeterM, using o2grabber, and no one else(?) there is a big chance that o2grabber does some weird merging between earlier known data and new, downloaded data on it's own... I'll have to look more closely into this. It doesn't happen too often, perhaps once every two weeks (but then it's for almost every show on one channel) so I haven't put any effort into this matter. I guess that if this would be the question, then the answer would be to delete the xmltv file before letting o2grabber download a new one...

Sub,
I have the problem again today, even after the forced clean-out of the EPG yesterday. I have sent you the files and some screenshots by e-mail.
I don't think it is just o2grabber, since I now can see that there are entries in the gbpvr database, that are not present in the XMLTV file... I guess this shouldn't be possible?

I have had the same problem with epg program data getting written on the wrong day. But I only have the problem if I grap the xmltv file around midnight (and a couple of hours on each side I think) and then update the epg in GBpvr. I have now set my computer to grap the xmltv file at 10am and set GBpvr to update the epg at 11am and I never have the problem anymore. I assume it's a bug in the danish xmltv grapper.

btw, I don't use the o2grapper, but I guess it get's it's data from the same source (tv.tv2.dk) as xmltv.
