I just setup recording digital channels via composite from my comcast (in the US) stb with manual recordings. I was trying to figure out a way to switch channels without getting an ir blaster (heavy budget constraints), and discovered "Timers".

Located in the comcast STB under Setup, Timers allow you to select a date, start time, duration (in minutes), and channel number. Then it will automatically switch to the channel at the prescribed date/time. After the duration, it then switches the channel back to what it was.

This worked out really well for recording a movie for the kids that was on at 4 am. I set the Timer to switch to the movie channel a few minutes before the start, and then set a Manual Recording in GBPVR to record the movieSmile

Forgive me if this has already been covered, but I thought I'd throw it out here in case people would be interested in doing similar things that I did without an IR Blaster.

Admitedly, it's not as good of a setup as an IRBlaster, but for the price (uh, none) it's definately doable for programming recordings on digital channels. I figure it's worth the 20 seconds or so of looking in the STB setup to see if the feature is available on other ones.
