So, this is my 2nd try, which i'll bring it to the end :-D Thanks to the help of Fatman_do and MixMan and the Beginner's-Tutorial for skinning, i'll proudly present a first preview of the ShiningTheme-HD-WS.

There's a lot to be done left, much more harder, that i am learning to design buttons also ^^;

Please tell me, before im finished, if something could be better or changed.

Don't learn so fast!!!!!:p

As far as your button backgrounds go, have you tried it without one (just the water)?
Maybe continue the black background behind the top and bottom bars?

You need to think of what to do with plugins as well. You might need a different background for those.

Like your buttons. You picked up on Paint.net fast.

Not sure how to pull off the recording indicator without the VideoArchive panel.
Are you planning on using it with the text blanked out?

(no fair editing your post before I finish my post)

The for the videoarchive panel you can use the font "Blank" so it show nothing. Then position your image so they overlap.

With a good teacher, i can learn something... ^^ Thank you Fatman_do =) I have to thank you for so any things, for all the knowledge, informations and especially the descriptions!

I didn't want to stretch or change the Waterbackground. What you're seeing is really the background: Right the water, left the woman.
I am thinking about to use someting similar to the chrom effect, but based on black and gray colours. Hopefully i am able to apply some shiny-effects with Paint.NET, then i'll redo the bar's to.
Like you see i replaced my first gen black buttons with these new ones. I thought it would be looking better to my chromatic bars ^^ I LOVE chrom and light effects ^^; Perhaps some other people too ;-)

If you believe it, or not, but the WeatherPlugin has already same look and feel ^^; I checked often this skin with my WeatherPanel, so it disturbed me really, that the WeatherPlugin wasn't already at new Skin Style *ggg*

Fatman_do Wrote:Like your buttons. You picked up on Paint.net fast.
Paint.NET isn't comparable to Photoshop, or something like that. But because it's possible to use different layers, there are many options open to play with. The only annoying thing: The time i need for this. I do this at work and can't concentrate 100%, so that only the new button took 7(!) hours to be done. For the WeatherPanel i needed ~13 hours... -.-

Fatman_do Wrote:Not sure how to pull off the recording indicator without the VideoArchive panel.

I'll try later on it. If i stop too long for now with it, i will NEVER progress with the skin. This isn't really important for now. I'll look into this, if the skin is ready and prepared to use with BaseSkin™ ;-)

^^; Sorry, but sometimes i forget important things to write... *smile*

Mhm..., interesting, i'll try out this later. But at work it makes no sense to experiment with this; my GB-PVR Version here has no RecordingSource, so that i would never be able to test this.

Again, dear Fatman_do, thank you. Thank you for all your help Smile

I'm very impressed. A week ago you said that you had no talent and it would be impossible to learn to skin with XML. Cool with new ideas.
This skin is a really unique design. You are the fastest learner of us all. Fatman_do is a very good teacher.
I think that you all are great guys. :-)

Dottores new skin a also a real good peice of artwork
Best Regards

Many thanks to you, dear MixMan ^^ Yes, Fatman_do is really a good teacher :-D But i learn now through you too, and sub... and of course all other skinners. I am watching other skins..., search for special techniques, that i could use for my own skin ^^;

But if i were the fastest learner..., mhm... i don't think so. I work on this skin with my love. Because i love GB-PVR and want to give it something personal from me :-D

Btw., you're absolutely right! Dottores new Skin looks really wunderful! His Skin looks very elegance and shiny/glossy. I like this one too :-D

But i think our themes aren't comparable in any case. It looks like he's using a much of the built-in graphical functions of GB-PVR, while i make for nearly everything a bitmap.

Both skins have good and bad points, i think. His skin should use more CPU Power, if i am not wrong, but much lesser Memory. My skin is vice versa: Less CPU Power (because nearly all is correct at right size painted) but will be use a lot of memory... ^^;

But the best thing is BaseSkin-Idea: It's so easy to change the actual skins from GB-PVR that it's not normal ^^; I like this theme no longer? No Problem, there's a lot of other themes there. Other themes from MixMan and Fatman_do, to call two names ;-)

every little pixel you see in my new skin is a png with some sort of transparency... i don't use the built-in drawing-functions for sassari. olbia uses a few of them, but less then you might think.

once you are through the process of understanding xml and how gbpvr generates the ui skinning is quite funny and easy, but it takes time.

i hope, you save your enthusiasm and produce some great skins for this great comunity!

greetings from the south (kempten, allgäu) to pinneberg!

Ah, sorry the for confusion. I thought you were using much of the built-in functions.

Thanks to Fatman_do and his Beginners-Tut in an very easy language, i understand more then before ^^; Far away from "really" good like you guys, but i try to make this one nice!

I hope this too, but i think this will be the fact ^^ Now, that i am understanding most things, it makes really fun :-D Meanwhile i am faster at creating graphics with Paint.NET. But every new Windows, Panel or Button has to be made from scratch. Resizing doesn't look good.
I too hope, that i'll be one day able to make a "great" skin. This one is more a technical study. But i like chromatic things, so i'll try to make it good.

Mainmenu is now fully working. Only Inset (TV) and the VAPanel makes me a headache. While Visualisations fit perfect within the inset, my TV-Picture is a little bit "damaged?" I have left and right from the TV-Picture black borders. I don't get them away, even if i set the Zoom to 1.00 for horizontal and vertical... Undecided

Nice greetings from the rainy north (Pinneberg) to the sunny south ^^;

Mhm... you makes me getting red... *smile*

Thank you so much for your compliment :-D The MainMenu is ready within 30 Minutes; just overworked the Weatherpanel again (too big) and added the MenuName (above the Weatherpanel).

I'll post new Screens, if it's done so far :-D And the menu after menu...

If you have any idea to make it better looking, please tell me Wink

Fantastic.

You know how I joked about reading your posts to the voice of "Yoda", well soon you will be a master skinner and fit the description.

<Patrick Stewart voice=on />

It would appear that this skin design is comming along rather nicely. I am looking foward to getting a glimpse of what may behold us in the future.

<Patrick Stewart voice=off />

Ok, dragon, I really don't sound anything like him. I need another voice to my words.....

<Willaim Shatner voice=on/>

This skin looks..........good. Can't wait.......to see it.

<William Shatner voice=off/>

Nah...In real life I sound almost exaclty like the voice for (warning, American Pop Culture reference) ALF.
