Some of the developers are starting to use installation programs for their plug-ins and skins.

Would it be possible to allow very large .exe files in the wiki upload section?

Thanks,

I asked the same thing, but no responce, so I set up a Wiki for the themepacks. I will probably remove the themepacks from the GBPVR wiki when they gets outdated.

I tried to get a discussion about pros and cons about uploading .exe files, but it never took off so I assumed it was an isolated request.

I'm pretty conservative when it comes to uploading .exe files (because of the security issues involved) and frankly don't see any big advantage over embedding it in an .zip file. Sure you have to doubble click it twice but that's a low price for the enhanced security.

However, this is my personal view and if you guys want to upload .exe files directly I don't see any reasons why we should not allow it.

So, I throw up a poll at http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=18014

I thinks zips are much more secure, plus its easier to include a readme.txt and such.

I don't upload anything to the wiki, but thats my 2 cents... Smile
