I have been using a nvidia 6200 without any major problems. I recently got an ATI X1300 http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/VGA/...13256DP-RH to replace it because of the know screen corruption problems when trying to change the aspect ratio. When using the nvidia card when I started tv (timeshift mode) or watch a recording the video took approximately 5 seconds to start. Using the X1300 it takes 15 seconds before playback starts. Does anyone have any ideas of would could cause this? I looked in the logs and compared it to the logs from the nvidia card and it appears to be the same and I do not see any errors except that the timestamps reflect the increased time before play back begins. I had to switch back to the nvidia because the wife was not pleased. You know it is funny the aspect problem really bugs me but not my wife and the opposite for the extra delay when starting playback. I guess I see who really runs the show aroud here.Wink I tried CCC6.1 and 6.6 but neither made a differnce.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Its most likely related the combination of audio and video decoders you're using.

Sorry for the delay in getting you the logs. I had to wait till the wife was not recoreding anything so that I could switch the card. I attached a log from the nvidia which is fine and then from the ATI.

I'm not really sure. There isnt an obvious cause in your logs. It just seems that Directshow is taking a long time to decide on which decoders can be used to play this file on your machine.

I see you've got the audio renderer set to "Envy24 Family Audio (WDM)". It might be worth setting this back to 'system default' to see if it helps at all.

I tried that but no change. I guess it is time to switch back to the nvidia and hope I can still return the card. Thanks for the help.

I doubt there is anything wrong with the card. It'll be something to do with the combination of directshow filters you're got installed, and one of them not liking something about the ATI renderer or something similar.

I'd make sure you're running your desktop at 32bit colour. I'd also try a different video decoder if you can.

The desktop is set to 32bit and I tried cyberlink decoders and it appears to have taken longer. Do have any suggestions on how to narrow down the problem? If it is a directshow filter how would I find it?

There isnt really any easy answer to that. Trial and error.

If you set audio/video decoders to 'system default' and the audio renderer to 'system default', is it any quicker?

Thats not an error, and can be safely ignored.
