I was just thinking this morning what a friendly bunch of people this forum seems to have on it. Probably in the top few percent if you search around and look at all the trolling, flaming and general fanboyism that abounds all over t'internet.
Sooooo I was just wondering what it took to build such a lovely communitySmile....

chuckle - it's not in the list, but I'd have to say another reason, (besides Sub's actually reading this stuff...) are posts like this.... Big Grin

Seriously good work! This sure breaks it up...

I think the people who come here frequently, even the lurkers like me, clearly see the merits of GBPVR.

The site itself is very understated and you have to dig a little to realise what the software and plugins are capable of, and this deters the wingers who demand everything to work right out of the box.

I do wonder where the project might go though, and anticipate some commercial involvement at some stage, im sure sub isnt doing this simply to keep himself busy in the evenings!!

sub runs a tight ship and it shows. I agree, there are few places on the net that have this much activity and this few of problems. If the worst thing that goes on is a spam post a couple times a week... I can deal with that. Smile

One of the other reasons I keep coming back: When I was setting up GB-PVR, I started out with an un-supported card (ATI TV Wonder PRO) and sub and many others helped me out trying to get it going with the software recorder plug in. I never really got it to function, and bought a Hauppauge in the end. Since then, I have been reading, learning and generally soaking up information.

I am a hardware guy, no way around it, I'd rather assemble a system then write a batch file (which is the extent of my programming skills! Big Grin). So I help with hardware where I can, and if someone has an issue that I have worked through in the past with my GB-PVR rig, I will post for them what I did to fix it in hopes that it will help them. The amount of support that sub provides for this project is astounding! I have paid a lot of more money for a product and then waited nearly a week for support! Between sub and all the others on here that can help out with problems, I am pretty sure this is the best supported software in the world! And I mean that.

So, in summation, I come around to stay current on GB-PVR, and to try and give back to the community that has given me so much! Cool

Not to get all mushy but....

This site has changed my view of the world. I check in here at least once a day just becuse it is such a pleasant place to be.

Sub always seems like such a patient and thoughtful person that it just seems to set the tone for everyone else.

In my real life, (away from GBpvr ) I'm probably regarded as a really crabby and impatient person. Well, strike the probablyBig Grin

It is pleasent here.
There are people on other forums that just love to call "newbies" idiots & seem to use the words "read the wiki" as their sig line. Smile

i've often wondered why his handle is Sub....lol
[cuz he sure don't take no s#|t! lol]

notice what all those things have in common? small minds with childish thoughts.. [flaming, RTFM'ing, name calling, etc.]
we're doin actual cool stuff, so go play with the kiddies.. Smile

Sub is actually trying to make something usefull...and he has..
so we come here to share ideas, get help and help others...so that we can use his gift and make it better for ourselves and everyone..
it's a monumental task he accomplishes, and to work well, it can't have a lot of nonsense thrown about wasting peoples time...

i think the bashers are what's keeping Linux from busting loose, so i'm just glad things around here happen like they're supposed to..Big Grin
