Hi all;
I have a ASUS K8NE with the PVR-350 and a GForce 440 8X AGP. The mainboard has a RealTek ALC850 5.1 surround.
It is all working fine, nice video out, using the TV audio out on the 350. I never tried any of the onboard audio.
I just got a LCD Tv/monitor combo, with VGA and s-video inputs.
So now I want to move away from the coax out on the 350. I have the 350 working via overlay to the VGA-out on the GForce card just fine-- but I can't get any audio out the center channel of the onboard 5.1. I'm not setting up the full 5.1 but thought I should be able to get audio out of the center.
And in fact, I have no system audio at all-- no Windows sounds. LEt alone the sound for the video coming thru on overlay (I've not tried hooking the audio onto the 350 while going thru overlay-- that might work but makes my switching from CATV to computer to DVD etc tricky).
I've put on the latest drivers for the RealTek stuff, albeit from Realtek no ASUS yet; I've checked all the sound software settings; no joy. I've tried telling the GBPVR config to use both directX and regular Realtek out. hmm.. I haven't done anything from the WinTV software...
I haven't hooked up the headphone jack at the front of the CPU yet but will do that sometime.
Is this a side effect of the 350 or is something else wrong? Will the 5.1 just "not work" unlessI have a couple speakers set up? the controller software for it doesn't show any speakers present at all. I have a mini adapter going from the center speaker to the 2 RCA sound inputs on the TV cabinet at the moment.
Is a quirk of the 350 no sound output through mainboard, only its own output?
I've been meaning to get another tuner/digitizer card added in but havent decided what to use yet.
Thanks for help-
