when you watch a recording on tivo and you get to the end, it pops up a small menu with two options:
1) Keep this recording and return to main menu (default)
2) Delete this recording and return to main menu

would this be very hard to add to gbpvr?

i think it would only be appropriate on tv recordings - not on videos or music library. of course, all tivo does is tv recordings... which is why i don't have a tivo. :p

That would be pretty sweet! Smile

No offense, but I don't get it.

Would this be a blocking message? Like, would you be required to click it? Or would it disappear after an interval?

I agree this would be nice - when recording stop unexpectedly and you find yourself back at the menu I sometimes wonder if I bumped (sat onRolleyes ) 'stop' again, or the kids are playing with the remote (usually talking into it like a modile phone Big Grin ) ... or even if something went wrong.

This menu could display a comment like 'recording ended' then prompt for options.

- prehaps a third option also - move to archive directory.

This directory might be set in the config utility, move the video folder and comskip files then update the database. (second HDD, network folder)

I would suggest you would want this 'recording ended' menu supressed if 'play all' was selected.

But he said "...when you watch a recording on tivo and you get to the end...."

If you proactively cancel a recording (e.g. by pressing Stop) then I agree; yeah, there should be an "Are you sure?" prompt.

But if a recording (scheduled or impromptu) just ends, of its own accord, I don't want to have to worry about checking back to clear a dialog box before it moves on to the next recording.

Ok I wan't clear.

- if a recording reached the end then the popup menu asking 'what now' would be a confirmation this had ocurred.

- if the main menu appeared without a popup then that would be 'unexpected' and I could start looking for that damn remote.....

I think I was trying to say the same thing - just giving my life example of when this might occur.

I still don't understand. If you're actually watching the show, you know when it's supposed to end. Presumably you've also indicated (via a prior command) that you wanted to record the show in the first place.

But if you're saying that a dialog box ought to be displayed when a recording is stopped by a user command (as opposed to one that just "reached the end" like it was supposed to), then I agree 100%.

I think the main purpose would be to be able to delete the recording after viewing it, without having to select it again afterwards. I usually always delete the recording after having watched it. Don't know if I'd think such a popup would be nice to have, though...

Not always. The specific example I was thinking of was one were the network was running late - and even my 10min post padding wasn't enough. Consequently the recording just finished, part way through the show, unexpected.

I actually replayed the recording to verify that it had finished and I hadn't just bumped the stop button.
