Subtitle Tracks

I am just at the thinking-about stage on geting into PVR, and I would like to know if (1) copying and playing subtitle tracks is the norm in PVR or (2) I need something special in the way of hardware or software, or (3) I'm just not going to be able to do it.

I prefer to go with a USB 2.0 product (I'm currently considering the Hauppauge WinTV USB2 and the Plextor ConvertX PVR PX-TV402U).

I would very much appreciate any info I can get.

I'm only aware of the PVR250 and PVR350 doing this. I've not seen confirmation of any other devices that do this.
