Hi, I recently got the above remote and i am having problems getting it to work in gbpvr! I have connected the IR Blaster that came with the device and it shows up in the device manager. What am i doing wrong?

At the moment i have no tv signal running through the pc as im having probs with the tuner as well (different thread) but even so the remote lights up when i press any of the buttons and the light on the IR Blaster flashes to show its recieving the signal but nothing happens on screen when gbpvr is loaded! I have checked the settings over and over again....unles i missed something.

Any help would be greatfully recieved..

If you bring up a long web page in Internet Explorer and you press the up/down buttons on the remote, does it scroll up and down the page? It should if the remote is function.

ok what is your actual problem here, ir blaster not working or remote not working? and there are two different devices, an IR blaster and an IR receiver, the blaster sends ir signals to things like your STB, to change channels. the receiver reads the signals that the remote sends at it.

so can you do as sub says above? or is that not your problem?

Ok, Thanks for the responces. I have just tested the remote as mentioned by Sub while viewing a web page and pressed the up/down keys to see if anything happens and...nothing...the remote lights up and a red light on the reciever flashes to corrispond with the remote key presses.

Are drivers for this remote automaically installed with GBPVR? Saying that it shows up in the device manager.

No, GB-PVR doesnt install any drivers for your remote. Any drivers need to be installed independently of GB-PVR. ie, the test I described with up/down in Internet Explorer should work without having GB-PVR installed.

I think XP Pro and XP MCE both include the MCE remote drivers by default, but I'm not sure about XP Home. Win2K definitely doesnt include the drivers.

Ihave just been doing some reasearch online and found that for the remote to work i need EHome Drivers for it.

I have checked my copy of WINXP SP2 and found a DIR in the Windows folder called EHome and inside is a file called MEDCTRRO, it is a Windows NT Command Script but when i click it a dos screen flashes for a split second then dissapears! I checked the file using notepad and it shows the following:

if EXIST %~dp0\ehshell.exe (
if EXIST %~dp0\medctrro.exe (
start %~dp0\medctrro.exe /o -RunOnce
)
)

Im told these are the drivers for the remote but as far as i can tell they dont seem to be doing much!

Just been checking out the wiki and found this http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Hardware/MCERemotes

The remote i have is the third one along (V2 i think it refers to it as) reading the wiki it seems to be directly supported by GBPVR.

It is directly support by means of interpreting the key commands. Windows still needs a driver to be installed for the OS itself to even recognize the remote. Once the driver is installed, Windows will process the key commands of the remote and pass them on, and then GBPVR can handle those key commands natively. That is what is meant by directly supported. The eHome drivers are still required.

Here is a link to the rollup package from MS that will update all of these drivers:
