Recording VS live (150PVR)

I have a questions for all those that own a Hauppauge 150pvr. Is the record quality supposed to be inferior to the live feed. The colors are somewhat off, sound isnt as good, and its not as sharp. Does anyone have any suggestions for capture settings, also mpeg2 decoders? Any help would be apprecaited.

In case my hardware setup is needed i have a Nvidia 7600GT video card(DVI connection to monitor), 3 gig processor, 1 gig ram, 160gig (mostly empty), Windows XP and the hauppauge 150pvr. The 150 is connected directly to the cable.( there is no actaul boxset). I also dont use a television to view the live tv or the records i use my monitor. (will eventually move recordings to dvds.)

You can edit the recording and livetv settings in gbpvr-config-capturesources-direct recording plugin settings. So you can try out yourself. I think default livetv is higher quality than medium (default recording quality).
