Monitor refresh rate

Just a quick question, Does the monitor (LCD)refresh rate have any impact on Video playback, live tv ect.ie live tv in pal land (UK) with a refresh rate of 60hz.

since your refresh rate is higher than the source material there should be no noticable impact during playback

Yes, it has significant impact on smoothness of motion.

I also live in a country which is PAL, and have a LCD monitor/TV which is native 60Hz.

I had to create a custom 50Hz refresh rate on the video card to get smooth motion.
