Please post all questions here, so not to hijack the Community Announcements thread.

As always suggestions and comments very welcome. Smile

GBPVR v0.98.13 (19th Oct 2006) and above includes a built in Volume OSD. For now I will leave this plugin as is, for anyone running older versions of GBPVR or just those who prefer the plugin to the built-in one.

You must have the latest release of GBPVR (v0.98.13). Then look on the playback tab of the config app, bottom left.

Skins have to be updated to show it mind. I know the Community Skin supports it and of course the default Blue skin.

I have downloaded the latest version of gbpvr (98.13, although I don't know if there is a place to verify which version I have) as well as Volume OSD, CommonGBPVRUtilities (I have an Aug 24th version) & GBPVRUIElements. I modified the config file in the gbpvr directory to add the Volume Videoplugin but I don't get any On Screen Display.

What confuses me is that when I open the config program and look under the playback tab, I only have the options that existed under previous versions of GBPVR (select internal volume, master volume or none). At first I thought this meant that my loading of the latest version of GBPVR didn't work so I tried again. A window came up asking if I wanted to modify or repair the program. I chose modify and the installing program seemed to think that the job was correctly finished.

I then worked on trying to get the plugin to work instead and reloaded Volume OSD, CommonGBPVRUtilities & GBPVRUIElements as of today with the exception of not overwriting the Aug 24th version of CommonGBPVRUtilities with an Aug 8th version. The file VolumeMonitor.dll is in the plugin directory and WaveLibMixer.dll is in the regular gbpvr directory. The skin is in the volume directory under community skin in the skin directory which is the skin I use. Although the winzip program appeared to save the skin into the skin\blue\volume directory, there is no such directory. I do have 4 OSD directories inthe skin\blue directory which suggests that I do have the latest GBPVR after all.

I also checked the fAQ on the WIKI page but nothing seemed applicable.

Does anyone have any idea on what I have missed?

Play some video and change the volume, then zip and post gbpvr.exe.log and I will take a look. Also post what kind of hardware you have.

But note that the GBPVR built-in Volume OSD is configured via the playback tab and should be able to be seen using the Blue skin and recent versions of the Community Skin. The Volume OSD plugin from the wiki is completley seperate to this. It is configured like any other plugin (on the plugins tab and the 'settings' button). From your post I think there maybe some confusion there.

Right click on the GBPVR icon in the system tray and choose 'About'.

Ok after reading this thread I can honestly say that I hope that this is not the case. But I too saw no OSD for the sound. Its not next to the channel buttons however when I used my up and down keys on my keyboard (as my RF Remote that came with my ATI Wonder Elite card is not supported) it changed the channels. SO I tried the left and right buttons which changed the volume and thats when I saw the OSD! A smallish green volume indicator that popped up in the center towards the top only when the sound was being changed. However I think pBS was looking for it like I was as a button like the channels. Not as an indicator when it was being adjusted. If i am wrong egg on my face but if I am right is there a way to make it a button or does one have to to go through the whole multiple plugin thing to make that happen?

Neither the plugin or the built-in OSD have buttons for volume up/down, they simply show volume changes like a normal TV does.

May want to look at the links at the bottom of this thread.

Thank you so much for helping me! This is the system I have:
Pentium®4 cpu 2.4 GHz 1 gb ram
I connect to regular TV (CRT) to watch video using cable but no cable box
Windows XP
Hauppauge 150 with 45 button remote
Cyberlink for DVD and BDA multiplexer
using GB-PVR v0.98.13b (which is also displayed on the first page of the config program)
I have a Sygate firewall and I have instilled the following plugins: Community skin, volume OSD, TVSupercharger, Show Search, Vidoe Archive, Weather, Theatre

The volume control works, both mute and volume up and volume down whether I select Local volume, Master volume or none/external volume (currently set on Master). I also tried the other suggestion of using right/left to increase and decrease volume in case my remote is set up weird (I did modify the irremote.ini file so that the Green Power button regains focus and the Go button changes the F7 aspect ratio).

When GBPVR is used with Hauppauge tuner cards/remotes it tends to use it's own internal volume for playback. In the config app this is refered to as Local Volume. Set to this, along with the Blue, or another supported skin and you should have an on screen Volume.

If you wish to use the Volume OSD plugin you should set this None, and the plugin's Volume Monitor to GBPVR Internal using the config app (pic below).
...

Note that both of these volume OSDs only show over the top of playing video, NOT on the menus, other screens etc.
