it would be great if you could automatic pause recording after N equal (or almost equal) frames, and un-pause after M different frames from the last paused frame, one could record a survellance camera all through the night and have only what matters, (another must would be a time stamp obviously not taken in account for frame comparisson)

This is really quite a different use than the intention of GB-PVR.

The type of solution you describe also lends itself to software encoder cards more. With the MPEG2 encoder cards that GB-PVR uses, during recording it has no idea where frames begin or end - its just MPEG2 data that is writen to a big file.
