Just installed Slimm GB-PVR, and I receive the following error. Running on Win2k with .NET 1.1 and 2.0 installed. All updates and service packs installed. GB-PVR version 0.98.13b. Any ideas?

Exception|Method not found: 'GBPVR.Backend.Common.ScheduleHelper GBPVR.Backend.Common.ScheduleHelper.getInstance()'.|System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'GBPVR.Backend.Common.ScheduleHelper GBPVR.Backend.Common.ScheduleHelper.getInstance()'.
at Slimm.GBPVR.Recordings.RefreshSchedule()
at Slimm.GBPVR.Recordings.Schedule(RecordingStatus Status, Int32 NumberOfRecordings)
at Slimm.GBPVR.TrayUtility.NotifyForm.ShutdownToolStripMenuItem_Update()
at Slimm.GBPVR.TrayUtility.NotifyForm..ctor()
at Slimm.GBPVR.TrayUtility.Program.Main(String[] args)

Additional Details
Last Information: Log file 'Slimm GBPVR.log' created
Last Verbose: ShutdownToolStripMenuItem_Update: immediate shutdown menu items

Um,

In your GBPVR directory (Program Files\devnz\gbpvr) there should be a file called GBPVRBackendCommon.dll. Mine is 483,328 bytes. Is yours the same? The error is saying that it can't find something in that file but this seems highly unlikely.

Otherwise, no, I'm haven't come across this problem before. Does it do this every time?

Yes, mine is the same file size, with a create and modify stamp of Oct 22, 2006 3:35:38pm. File version says 1.0.2486.9813

Yep, it does it every time, unfortunately.

Interesting, my file version is different. Yours is more recent, looks like I'll have to try and find out why. Very peculiar because I have v9813 GB-PVR installed too.

Gulp.

I deleted my dll and used GBPVR09813.msi to repair the installation. The dll it put back is the 2483 one.

I notice you said you installed 9813b. Is that the version number shown on the first page in the Config utility? (Mine says 0.98.13.) Is this a different installation package to the one posted on the main GB-PVR site? Or did you download a different backend common dll from somewhere? If so, can you point me in the direction of the appropriate file?

Maybe all the family Christmas presents I found piled around the GB-PVR computer this morning are creating a positive chi that is increasing the version number!? Smile

The 9813b is what I obtained by right clicking on the tray icon, and then clicking on About. Yes, I did download it from the gbpvr homepage, but I did have trouble getting it to run. I had to install an older .NET 1.1 version first, get it working, then install 9813 over top of the old version in order to get things working.

I just tried your suggestion of deleting the dll, and then using the repair option of the install.... and the 2486 version is back!

Has anybody else tried this on Win2000 that you know of?
Is it possible there is a different dll for Win2000 than for XP?

Okay. I downloaded the gbpvr09813.msi from the home page again and it is slightly different to one I had. Deleted the dll and this msi puts the 2486 version in. So I now have the same version as you but I couldn't recreate the crash as mine loaded fine. Oddly, the version number display by GB-PVR's About box is still 0.98.13 not 0.98.13b.

Possible actions:
  1. If you are okay using regedit you could delete any registry information SlimmGBPVR has by removing this key:
    Code:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Slimm Solutions\Slimm GBPVR\
  2. To produce detailed logs run the attached .reg file. This only sets the LoggingLevel to maximum and does nothing else. Then run SlimmGBPVR. Then you can zip up the files SlimmGBPVR.exe.log, SlimmGBPVR.exe-1.log, SlimmGBPVR.exe-2.log and SlimmGBPVR.exe-3.log and I can take a look at them to see if there is any hints in there.

Very sorry about this trouble.

Thank you so much for all the time you're spending on this. No trouble at all on this end. I'm enjoying the hunt!

I deleted the registry entry as you indicated, and installed the reg file you gave me. Ran the program and received the error again. Attached is the only log file I could locate in the devenz/GBPVR directory that had the name SlimmGBPVR in it. Hope this helps.

Are you using the SQLite database option in GB-PVR? If not, use the ChangeDatabase.exe to swap to SQLite. If you are, then... don't.

Yep. I just switched to SQLite a couple days ago.
