Hi,

I'm trying to find the proper post processing settings so I can watch recordings on my pocket PC. Anyone have any luck with this?

The post processing itself seems to work fine (thanks Sub!) but I'm not able to reduce the quality enough to get it to play on my pocket pc. I have tried setting it to divx, xvid, and wmv and they all stutter/lag when I play them (audio is fine, but video skips). I have played other 700MB divx files without problems, but not the ones created by gbpvr. I am only unable to open the Settings window on the Processing tab for Windows Media Files and I have setting it as low as 'Video for Modem 12kb' setting. (or something similar?!).

Do I have to purchase divx to get access to the divx settings?

Anyone know what setting to try to fix this?

All help appreciated!

Hi Motom,

I use the following in config.xml and it works fine on a 400MHz ARM HP4150.

Just add this new line into conversions and then make sure you have the XviD encoder installed on the PC.

<Conversion name="XviD PDA 300kb/s" cmd="-y -i {SOURCE_FILE} -f avi -ab 128 -ac 2 -s 512x402 -acodec mp3 -vcodec mpeg4 -b 300 -vtag XVID {DEST_FILE}" targetExtension="-PDA.avi" />

I use TCPMP on the iPAQ and it works fine.

Thanks Dava, I'll try it this evening.

Just curious: Why do you need the xvid encoder? Afaik the transcoding is done by ffmpeg.exe. Am I missing something?

Dava, it worked great! I have a Qtec S110 and it plays fine with TCPMP now.

I did get some drawn out lines on faster moving objects in the video, but this is still a great improvement. They were not as noticable when viewing in regular screen (not full screen). I might try some other settings if that is possible.

That was my first attempt at some "small and dirty" settings, please let me know if you improve on them. My primary audience on the PDA are the kids so they are not too choosy when it comes to quality. I would be interested in some better settings for my stuff though once I get GBPVR fully working to my requirements.

Probably not. This is my first experience with FFMPEG, I normally use VirtualDubMod for transcoding and that does need it. If FFMPEG does it all internally, thats cool.

In thaqt command line, the xvid reference is not really being used, I think it could be used...

Dava: my mistake, I played an old file. Your settings really reduce the file size!! A 30min show is approximately 100MB now and the quality is decent for a PDA imho. I might try compressing it a little less, but it was nice to fit 10 episodes on one SD card Big Grin
