I stumbled on this MS fix for the old DX9c quartz.dll stutter bug.

This fix only applies to those who use VMR9+DXVA.

Quote:When you play back interlaced content through the Video Mixer Renderer 9 (VMR9) with DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA) enabled, flickering may occur after seeking. This problem typically occurs when you issue a seek command while you play back content. In some cases, this command can cause the timestamps of the samples to be incorrect before the sample is sent to the de-interlacer. This behavior causes the even and odd fields to become reversed.

New DX9c quartz.dll 6.5.2600.2905 (May'06)

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919071/en-us

It appears to work for me, and I'm curious if anyone has tried it.

Well found! It's early days yet (my stuttering seems to come and go at random) but it does seem to be doing the trick.....

You may want to post this in this thread in the support area....there was a lot of discussion on the quartz.dll. If you go to the thread and search it for quartz you see the entries......

You are a genius. This should be a sticky. It completely fixed my stuttering problem, which was only seen on a seek with DXVA decoders. Brilliant.

Dumb question i know, but the stuttering you guys are experiencing, it's only during playback so the recorded file doesn't have the stuttering in it right?

The recorded file is fine. While watching timeshifted "live " tv everything is fine until I timeshift. Then, it looks terrible until I seek again.
