Hi,
About a year ago I took the original MusicAlbums plugin written by Tobias and began altering it. The biggest change I made was to create another "screen" if the user hit the right button (past the playlist). This new screen had the current song and album art on the left hand side and the current playlist on the right hand side. The big benefit for me was that I was then able to make the album art much much bigger therefore giving the user a more visual feel. Also, I could then show more of the tags Album, Year, Song Name etc. This also opens up the possbility of adding more tags like lyrics and potentially even synchronized lyrics.
In addition, this gave me more real estate on the right hand side to display more songs in the playlist. Everything else for the most part did not change. This was a huge hit with my friends. People seem to really want to see the album art as big as they can. If they want to go back to adding songs all they had to do was left click.
I guess my question is, do you have any interest in me trying to retrofit that into your version? Or is it something you want to add yourself?

After further research I think that "Music Library 2" might do something similar to what I want

The album art while playing is busted at the moment on ML2 - something I've got on my list to fix - soon I hope.....

psycik,

I was unable to find the source code to your plugin? Is that because you do realease it or is it because I am looking in the wrong place?

No I haven't released the code to ML2, and sorry, I'm not likely to - it's kinda my baby...

To answer the original post, I believe the Music Albums plugins (The original and the later version II) are no longer supported by the plugin authors as they appear to have moved on.

I still use the Music Albums plugin smelcher (I find it almost perfect for album playing, the main problem being the slowness of navigation with large album lists - ie. no letter keypad functionality or even having the album list wrap around) anyway, just saying that I personally would be interested in your extension of the plugin, although as Fatman_do mentions, both the original author and the author of the subsequent update have now both ceased work on the plugin.

cheers,

tieke

After looking further into ML2 it seems like it is the way to go. It is clearly the best music player out there but the biggest problem is that it is not open source. I may look into rewriting the MA2 myself. It would be painful to reinvent the wheel though.
I understand why people don't want to publish their source but on the other hand I think the application would benefit tremendously from it. Perhaps psycik will eventually reconsider. Kudos to him for writing such a good player though!
