Hey Mr. Slimm, I have an interesting question for you.

I have GBPVR running on a PC as my host computer in the basement. I've setup my program directory, TV buffer and recordings directory as network shares on the host computer. I've now installed GBPVR and SlimmGBPVR on another computer on the network. By editing the locations for the database and the recordings in the config.xml file to look at the remote shares, I'm able to get SlimmGBPVR working (for the most part) on the remote computer.

The key reason for doing this is to give my wife a simple way to browse the recordings, find one she wants, and play it back using her usual media player. The only problem I haven't been able to overcome is the tool tip that tells you about the episode isn't coming up on the remote machine. It works fine on the host computer, and the remote computer does show the episode tool tips for the pending, recurring and conflicts. Just not for the completed recordings. Any ideas where I might look next?

Could you run GBPVRcli (in the Program Files\devnz\gbpvr directory) for me with the following commandline:
Code:
gbpvrcli /recorded /message {FileName} >"%UserProfile%\Desktop\CliOutput.txt"

These are the filenames stored in the GB-PVR database.

I also need the Slimm GB-PVR logs. You can use Tools->Report error to do this.

Both files will be on your desktop and you can drag the CliOutput.txt file into the GB-PVR_error_report.zip and attach that file here.

The reason you're not getting any information is because Slimm GB-PVR can't find the filename from its directory listing of the recordings directory in the GB-PVR database but to adjust my code, some further guidance from these files is needed.

Question: does the recording light work?

Thanks.

I have posted a new version which might sort out your recording popup problem here. It also contains a few other tweaks and bug fixes.

I've attached the logs and GBPVRCLI output for your review. When you mentioned it couldn't find the find the file name in the directory, I started reviewing the database entries and saw that the file names were all pointing to a specific drive letter and directory on the host machine. I changed the entries in the database and also the path for GBPVR recordings to use the UNC path instead, and it seems to be working just great, tooltips and all. In the logs where is now says "\\Gbpvr\Recordings" it previously listed "E:"

I'm not totaly sure about this, but I think the recording light seems to be a tad intermittent on the remote machine. I believe it's only initiating an animation during recording if I click the icon to get a status, but that's pretty much what I expected over TCP/IP.

I'll download the update and see what transpires.
