You also need to put in a "notch filter" between your incoming cable line and the modulator. This cleans out any noise coming in on the cable line, even if you don't typically have a channel there. This does 2 things, first, it makes sure the band frequency you are injecting the signal into is very clean and will not interfere with the modulated signal. Next, it works in reverse to keep your modulated signal out of the cable company or your neighbors. That way you don't have to worry about them knowing you are a closet Texas Chainsaw Massacre fan. You should be able to find a modulator and filter off the net from companies like Smarthome.com for around $100. It sure added a lot of flexibility and potential to my system. By the way, there are even components that can allow you to have a remote ir receiver at your TV and it converts and injects the IR signal into your coax so it can be reconverted elsewhere in your system to control things like a set top box, MVP, or IR control on your computer. Some modulators have this feature built in.
