In order to increase capture quality, I am using a dvd recorder with cable in as a tuner with s-video out into a pvr-150. (The dvr's tuner produces cleaner input than the pvr-150's tuner.)

I can switch the dvr's channel by recording a minute on the desired channel.

But, WinTV scheduler changes input from s-video to the pvr-150's tuner when the pvr-150 recording begins, thus voiding the whole process.

Can GB-PVR allow scheduled recording through the pvr-150's s-video input port?

This method makes good recordings, but I need something that will do unattended recordings. Also, recording manually is limited to 4 hours duration.

See this post.

It talks about composite input but the principle is the same.

Not sure about the recording limit, sorry.

The best way to capture dvd video would be to use a dvd drive in the computer if this is available. With this method you can use programs like ripit4me, dvd shrink and dvd decryptor to copy the dvd onto the computer.

I have no problem processing the capture, but the capture itself. I wish to capture analog cable through my PVR-150 s-video port rather than using the PVR-150's tuner. I use the dvd recorder only as a tuner with s-video out.

My question relates to how I can use a scheduler with the PVR-150 while utilizing the s-video port rather than the tuner's composite port. When I use WinTV Scheduler, the card switches from s-video to composite.

Problem solved. Being a dummy, I didn't realize you can assign s-video as channel 210 and use like any other channel.:o
