I've figured out how to grab the "broadband" version of the BBC streams. The existing version of the BBCDynSource mini-plugin works but the links are to the low speed URls and the video is really awful. If you download this new version: [ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND] you'll find the video is much clearer and no longer has that slo-mo, jerky effect that you get at dial-up speeds.

For good measure, I've also included the links to the One O'Clock, Six O'Clock and Ten O'Clock news on BBC One, so you can always watch the latest version of the news. (These are included in the BBC - PROGRAMMES section).

Just copy the contents of the zip file to Plugins\UbuStream\DynSource and it should work out of the box. (I'm working on the next version of UbuStream so I hope I haven't left any unexpected "dependancies" in these files. Let me know if you have any problems with the new version.)

The new links work with GB-PVR timeshift mode (as long as you use acodec=mpga Smile ) so they "should" work on your MVP. The BBC news streams are a bit frustrating. They are "padded" at each end of the news so you don't miss anything. I'll forget I'm watching a stream, a new program will start on BBC One and then suddenly stop after a couple of minutes just as I'm really getting into it!

Still, better than nothing, as I can't watch the BBC World stream any more since they started charging for it ($6 a month to watch one channel didn't meet WAF requirements - plus it requires RealPlayer, so not viewable with timeshift/MVP  ).

I keep reading about the things that the BBC are doing regarding downloadable content, streaming, etc., but then find out it is UK IP addresses only (I had this problem when the world cup was on). I thought about setting a proxy up with a mate in the UK, but he isn't keen to leave his machine on full-time. Plus the fact that it is Real Player (which I don't have - hate the thing) turns me off.

So every week I download Eastenders from uknova for the wife, and different stuff for me. Irony is, even though I live in NC, I would happily pay an annual uk tv licence fee every year if I could get this stuff streamed...

Well I've put all the links I could find that work for US IP addresses into the DynSource app, so at least you can watch Panorama, Newsnight, etc. I'd been wondering if I could get a re-streaming arrangement with someone outside the US too. The "free" BBC World stream was some newspaper in Korea that re-streamed it as a high-speed Windows Media stream. I watched it for a year or so but then I heard the Beeb and RealNetworks sent in their "minders" to have a "wee chat" and the URL abruptly became a dead link.

Also, I blame US media companies for some of the "blocked to US IP address" streams. I used to watch Deutsche Welle's english language stream from Germany but then they did a deal with one of the dish networks. and one of the conditions was DW blocking US users from getting the free stream so they would pay money to watch it with the poxy dish service instead. Sheesh!

The San Jose PBS station has Eastenders on every night here - a lot of Brits (rich ones with clout) in Silicon Valley.
