It would be nice to be able to control the sort order of files displayed (in the video library, for example). The ability to toggle among name, ascending date and descending date sorts would be useful.

Forgive me if this feature is already present. I've just began using the program and could not find it.

bchaplin,

You haven't overlooked it - that feature doesn't exist in GB-PVR... you get recordings sorted by date if you have made them with GB-PVR (I think) but not in the video library.

I think it would be a good idea if we collected our feature requests in some kind of structured way and prioritise them to help sub - what does everyone think?

Cheers,
Andy

Good idea.  Does this forum software have a survey feature?  You cold post a consolidated list of proposed features and have everybody vote for what they want the most.

The forum software allows you run a poll, but I'm not sure if it is flexible enough but might be worth a shot.

I do like having a wishlist...otherwise everyone is going to get what I want, whether they like it or not.

No, no... Microsoft's products and approaches are based on customer feedback - for example, the increase in license costs with the introduction of software assurance was something we had pressured Microsoft into doing for us [Image: biggrin.gif]

Sorry for resurrecting this...

Are there plans to add sorting capabilities for viewing files? I may have missed the answer in another post, but the original topic (in this post) did not specify.

Regards...

I'll see if I can add something for the next release. What sort orderings would you like to be able to toggle between? Date and name?

No matter which PVR solution you use, files will get added on a regular basis. Having a sort by date would be a great option.

Now in terms of the other categories, I am sure that everyone will have different needs. Some will want their files sorted by name, some by date, and if the data is available from the PVR end, maybe show title, first run status, etc.

I for one would be happy with just the date and name.

I started looking at implementing this in the music and video libraries during the weekend (with yellow button to toggle sorting). Video was relatively straight forward, but I'm not 100% sure what the correct behaviour should be for music.

Its fairly easy to sort by date.

Sorting by name for music has a few more questions. In Icon mode I normally show the file name above the icon, but if the MP3 file has an ID3 tag I show the artist name and track name instead. Where should these files containing ID3 tags come in the sort order? Should I use the track name instead of the filename when sorting (if it has a track name)?
