I don't have the development experience to do this on my own but I think the possibility to Play MAME over GB-PVR would be Great. My plan is to make my GB-PVR PC my entertainment system. Even other Emulators would be great if we could run them over GB-PVR.

Any thoughts?

The funny things is, MAME support was included in the early releases (less than v0.6?). I took it out at the time because it was never going to work with PVR350/XCard/MVP.

I've now come to the realisation that I wont be able to always have parity across the various hardware, so may put it back in at some point for those using their normal video cards to view GB-PVR. Its not top of the priority list, but its on the list.

i could try to write a plugin, which can list files (and detailed information) and on press launch the associated application. so one could use this plugin for a wide variety of files, including games, emulators and even video files.

it wouldn't be hard to write, so i would give it a try.

That would be great but would you still be able to view it over the S-Video or Composite output of the PVR (PVR-350 in my case)

no, it would be nothing else than a frontend for other applications. sorry.

the only way to display on the pvr350 output would be an mpeg2-file.

Nope, on your PC desktop only.

The PVR350 is only really capable of displaying MPEG video. Obviously I've have managed to force it to show the GB-PVR menu etc, but this is very specialist and very slow. Third party applications like MAME would need to be coded to be able to use the PVR350, and even then would only get about 5 frames per second.

I see. Thanks

Here's something on a different topic is there a way to run GB-PVR without having the menu display on the Desktop the same time it outputs to the TV?

If you turn on "Direct Access to Hauppauge Remote" and stop IR.exe, then GB-PVR can be minimized. This means you dont need to leave GB-PVR in the foreground on your PC, and the PC can be used for other things.
