Hi,

I was wondering if the use of Tans2MVP.bat is deprecated with 0.99.5.

My config.xml has the following line:
<MVPTranscodeUsingFFmpeg>false</MVPTranscodeUsingFFmpeg>

but it is still using ffmpeg to transcode on the fly.

Is there another setting to control this?

To be honest, I havnt personally tried Trans2MVP.bat for at least a year. I havnt intentionally done anything to break it, but I might of.

I just looked and cant see any reason it wouldnt still be working.

You'd need to have a Trans2MVP.bat in the GB-PVR directory, and <MVPTranscodeUsingFFmpeg>false</MVPTranscodeUsingFFmpeg> in config.xml

Yes, the setting is in the config.xml file and the the file is in the gbpvr directory. It's been working for the last 3 versions. This 0.99.5 version seems to have changed behaviour.

Here's part of the gbpvr.exe.log which shows the settings:

From the look of your logs, its definitely not using ffmpeg, which means its running through the bit of code that either does Trans2MVP.bat or Trans2MVP.exe. Looking at the code it'll run Trans2MVP.bat if it exists in the GB-PVR directory, else it'll run Trans2MVP.exe.

It really looks to me like you dont have Trans2MVP.bat in the GB-PVR directory.

I've added some log messages to the next release to make it clear exactly which one of these two its attempting to run.

Doubled checked everything. You're right, it is using Trans2MVP.bat.

The transcoded files looks like crap with obvious pixel blocks and ghosting. My Trans2MVP.bat file uses ffmpeg in the end, but the output has never looked so bad.

Yeah, I was pretty sure it was.

They've changed the command line of ffmpeg in the most recent versions, specifically around the bitrate. What was previously "-b 2400" would now be "-b 2400k", so you'll probably need to edit your custom commands in Trans2MVP.bat.
